Token is an entertainment business representing some of Australia’s finest actors and comedians.

We are looking for a Manager’s Assistant in our Sydney office, this is a role primed for someone who thinks that they could be an artist manager one day.

Token Artists is Australia’s biggest manager of comedians, taking care of the global careers of Australia’s funniest on stage, on screen and anywhere else you can be funny. We manage the likes of Hannah Gadsby, Celia Pacquola, Wil Anderson, Tom Ballard, Tom Gleeson and Judith Lucy.

This won’t be your first job, you will have had a few years of work experience. You will be motivated and smart and while you don’t need to have work experience in show business you will need to be able to show us that you are passionate about entertainment in general and hopefully comedy in particular.

This is an office gig (in Bourke St, Redfern) but it’s not 9-5, we need you out checking out gigs and getting a feel for the scene. You will need to spend time at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and possibly other festivals around the country. If going to gigs doesn’t seem like fun to you then this is the wrong shop.

You need to be super organised, confident enough to stand up for an artist and able to deal with volume and pace while still maintaining a keen eye for detail. We will teach you the ropes, but you need to be open to learning and keen to stretch yourself – you will need to get your head around everything from TV call sheets to contracts to press calls to booking travel.

In your application tell us what you have seen recently and where you love to go and see shows, tell us about your passion for show business and any bits and pieces you have gotten up to that feel relevant. A cut and paste cover letter won’t cut it for this role.

You need to be organised and have worked in an office environment before, you need to be able to write confidently and have critical skills. You will need to be a confident communicator, but you don’t need to be loud – a quiet confidence will work just fine. You probably have a university degree, but we are probably not fussed what it was in – it could be a business or law degree, or it could be arts.

Most of all you need to be passionate about working behind the scenes to support creative people.

To apply, please email your cover letter and CV to careers@token.com.au by Friday September 14.
