Merrick Watts

“A natural storyteller”
- Herald Sun

Whether it’s his infectious humour over radio and television, his extraordinary performance on the hit reality-military training show SAS: Australia or his exceptional wine expertise, it’s no doubt that Merrick Watts is one of the most versatile and enthralling entertainers in Australia.

Merrick founded a quaint touring comedy festival called Grapes of Mirth in 2018. Grapes of Mirth pulls together a bunch of Merrick’s comedian mates to perform stand up at wineries around the country. These acclaimed, sell out shows, continue to gain popularity and praise as a hell of a great weekend away. He is also the host of the wildly popular Picture Discuss podcast.

Merricks originally rose to fame in the early 2000s as one half of the comedy duo Merrick and Rosso. As a solo performer, Merrick carved out a new course: as an actor on The Hollowmen and Underbelly; and as a stand-up comedian.

In 2020, Merrick undertook a physically and psychologically demanding training course as part of his appearance in Channel 7’s SAS: Australia. The record-breaking show saw Merrick push himself to the limit as he underwent a series of tests from the real SAS selection process. Merrick continues to appear on television on such shows as Thank God You’re Here, The Cheap Seats and The Project.

Merrick is well recognised as a leading performer in comedy and entertainment, and has a wealth of experience in MCing corporate events, awards nights, product launches, company Christmas parties etc. He can entertain your audience as auctioneer and even get results!  To describe him as “multi-talented” is a gross understatement (at least that’s what he reckons!). He has the incredible ability to perform in any arena, big or small, and can cater his material for all audiences, including building a multi-media PowerPoint presentation chocked full of jokes, customised to suit your occasion!

Based in Sydney but willing to travel, Merrick is perfect for those gigs that Vince Sorrenti said no to, or Richard Wilkins was too expensive for.  He’s also capable of not swearing at absolutely no additional cost!

Testimonials:

“The surprise package of the conference was Merrick Watts. An intelligent and engaging performance surrounding the presentation of 25 separate awards spread over three hours.
His energy and his ability to ad lib around both sponsor/presenters and winners arriving on stage was received with acclamation by the audience and no one left unhappy!
It is a rare combination of established comedic skills and an understanding of how rigid the corporate structure will always be.
We will have him back again without question.
HIA National Awards
