After 12 years apart, Lano & Woodley’s masterpiece FLY has triumphed at the 2018 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, taking out the People’s Choice Award.
The award comes 24 years after winning the prestigious Perrier Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1994. Having sold over 25,000 tickets across 30 shows in Melbourne, Lano & Woodley’s FLY has blown audiences and critics away. If you missed out on tickets, audiences can book ahead for their August shows. Tickets are available here.
Furthermore, the Best Newcomer award went to Danielle Walker for her show, Bush Rat. Originally from Townsville, after just a couple of years gigging she took out the prize in Australia’s biggest open mic competition to be named Raw Comedy National Champion in 2016 and last year was hand-picked to perform in ‘The Comedy Zone’. Danielle Walker’s debut solo season has seen her perform to sold out crowds night after night, as word quickly spread about one of Australia’s rising comedy stars.
Congratulations to all the winners!
