Anne Edmonds and Steen Raskopoulos have capped off a hugely successful Sydney Comedy Festival, both taking home awards at last night’s super-late ceremony.

In a festival first, this year the judges deemed that instead of awarding both an international and national artist, it was indistinguishable and that two local acts must take home the top gong for Best of the Fest. This saw Anne’s monstrous and larger-than-life character Helen Bidou, spawned from the television show Get Krack!n, a joint-winner with her show Enter The Spinnaker Lounge alongside trio Aunty Donna. If you’re a Melburnian, you can catch two encore performances of the show next month at the Malthouse Theatre.

Steen Raskopoulos’ pulsating one-man tour-de-force Stay was awarded the Directors’ Choice.

Furthermore, duo Double Denim took home the Best Newcomer award.
