Josh Thomas, Luke McGregor, Celia Pacquola and Anne Edmonds have all been tapped on the shoulder for the 50th annual Australian Writers’ Guild AWGIE Awards. 

The AWGIE Awards recognise and reward excellence in performance writing. In the years since their inception, the list of AWGIE winners have included writers whose stories have shaped Australian culture including feature films, theatre, TV series and serials, miniseries and children’s animated programs.

Josh Thomas, alongside co-writers Thomas Ward and Liz Doran, have been nominated in the ‘Comedy – Situation or Narrative’ category for their episode ‘Burrito Bowl’ of Please Like Me.

In the same category, Luke McGregor and Celia Pacquola have been nominated for episodes four and six of their critically acclaimed show Rosehaven. The nominations for Rosehaven follow the news that the show will be returning for a second season on the ABC later this year, alongside launching in the US with SundanceTV.

In the ‘Comedy – Sketch or Light Entertainment’ category, Anne Edmonds has picked up a nomination for the episode ‘Three Wishes’ of Fancy Boy, which was co-written with Declan Fay, John Campbell, Stuart Daulman, Greg Larsen, Jonathan Schuster and Henry Stone.
